Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

Continuance to Seek Counsel

Municipal Court cherry hill re: simple assult (DV) upon me. Cross complaint filed against me as advised by his attorney had the opportunity to dismiss but was not represented and not sure what to do so asked for continuance to seek counsel. I have not obtained an attorney and I just want to dismiss. Do I need to have counsel? Will judge be pissed so to speak? My actions were in self defense & already opinioned by judge in final RO in civil matter that I was severely assulted as proof of photos and 911 CD played as evidence I presented. Will it be against me to stand alone without counsel after asking for continuance to seek and have not found counsel? What am I facing?

If there is going to be a mutual dismissal of the charges, then you probably don't need a lawyer. However, you need to speak with the other attorney to see if that is what they are agreeing to. If you don't get a definite YES to that question, then you should hire a lawyer because you don't want to proceed on a criminal case when the other party is represented by a lawyer and you aren't. I am an attorney who has handled many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-

Re: Continuance to Seek Counsel

Whenever you go to Court, it makes sense to have an attorney there to assist you and explain all the options. In the long run, it is less stressful and actually saves you a lot of time. Please reply if you want me to quote a discounted price to attend the hearing....

Re: Continuance to Seek Counsel

You obviously are conflicted by a desire to avoid the expense of an attorney and the desire for justice.

If you need an attorney to assist you in seeking justice, give me a call.

Call me if you like. I would expect that can still go to court alone and have all charges dismissed.
