Re: breech of promise

A promise made verbally which is reasonably relied upon by another person to whom the promise is made can be binding where that other person changed his or her position in reliance upon the promise. There must be quit pro quo, meaning that the promise is binding if the person relying on the promise did not act which was a condition of the promise. A naked promise, without consideration, is enforceable only in God's Court.
