Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Indenpendet Contractor Agreement - Question

11/07/08 - hired as a contractor and signed a contract on this date.

Departed (mutual choice-no forms signed-left on good terms) - 05/11/2009

Pieces of the AGGRMNT -

Attached sheet - ''Schedule A'' -

TERM: This engagement shall commence upon execution of this AGGRMNT and shall continue in full force and effect through 12/01/08 or earlier upon completion of the Contractors duties under this AGGRMNT. The AGGRMNT may only be extended thereafter by mutual AGGRMNT, unless terminated earlier by operation of and in accordance with this AGGRMNT.

During the course of the AGGRMNT and for a period of 6 months immediately following the expiration or termination of the AGGRMNT for any reason, whether with or without good cause or for any or no cause, at the option of either party, with or without notice, the Independent Contractor will not, either directly or indirectly, interfere with the Companys contracts and relationships, or prospective contracts and relationships, including, but not limited to, the Companys customer or client contracts and relationships.

These sentences confused me, can you please clarify if I am in the right to contact my past ustomers/clients now-

It has been 6 months since the date 12.01.08.

Re: Indenpendet Contractor Agreement - Question

It would appear that the six month period of "noninterference" have expired. You would seem to be able to act without restrictions set forth in the contract.

I answer in this manner because people are fundamentally unpredictable so that I can not say that the other party to the contract will not seek to use the contract to make trouble for you.

Call me if you like.
