Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

My and my family's status

Hi.

I worked for my company for 9 years and they sponsored my immigrant visa. While waiting for approval, I faced family emergency and had to quit my job and leave for my home country.

However, my kids and wife wanted to remain in the U.S. so they remained in the U.S. One week after I quit the job and and left the country, my petition got approved and several days for the rest of my family's petition got approved.

I am still in my home country and may have to stay here for several years. But, my kids want to remain in the U.S. for school, etc.

Did I lose my status when I quit my job and left the country even if I worked for the company for 9 years? If I lost my status, what about my kids and wife?

Could my kids get their citizenships eventually with no problem?

Thank in advance for your kind answer.

Re: My and my family's status

You did not mention any detail about which petition you filed, what got approved, what is the current state of the application for your children. Were you here on a temporary visa or did you file for a green card. Without this information I cannot give you an answer.
