Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New Jersey

Allowed to walk out of hospital

I was a patient at a local hospital suffering from depression and un controlled diabeetes. I was permitted to walk out of the Hospital while being treated without care of the facility at which I was admitted. I walked past the nurses station, and security guards. It was December and I was wearing only a short sleeve shirt, jeans and socks.

My intentions were to commit suicide by walking infront of traffic on an Interstate highway.

8 months later convinced that this incident added to a partial validation of my suicidal feeling I attempted to commit suide by taking an overdose of prescription medication.

Is the hospital, liable for letting me walk out?

Re: Allowed to walk out of hospital

If you left the hospital on your on free will, and against medical advice you cannot now claim negligence. If you left, and the hospital was unaware that you left you are at fault.
