Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

A relative used my address as a mailing address a credit card, but he did not live here or have a residence in the US (he is a citizen). He was not able to make any payments for over a year and now he has been served a summons by an attorney to collect the debt. Will this and other legal proceedings against them have any impact on my family due to him using our address, besides receiving his mail? He is aware of the actions against him.
