My husband is in prison for 3 1/2 to 7 years on a rape 2nd a D felony, will he have to register as a sex offender?

As a general rule, most offenders convicted of sex offenses have to register. Your husband will be given a proposed "rating" before being released and he will have an opportunity to challenge that rating with the NYS Board of Examiners for Sex Offenders. His rating or level will determine the type and amount of restrictions that are imposed upon him once released. There are three different levels with different types of restrictions imposed at each level. You or your husband can contact my office if you need further information.
