Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Record Sealing or Expungement

14 years ago, at the age of 19yrs old, I was arrested by Nassau County police. I was subsequently charged with robbery, however, based on the advice of a junior attorney, I accepted a plea to a misdemeanor petty larceny instead of pursuing what I thought would be a lengthy court case.

This misdemeanor petty larceny conviction occurred back on 9/14/90, and I was ordered to serve 3years probation and pay a small fine (approx $200). I was dismissed from my probation earlier due to exceptional behavior. In addition, I received certificate of release from the Nassau county clerks office.

At this point in time in my life, I would like to seek legal representation to pursue having this misdemeanor conviction from year 1990, sealed, expunged or pardoned. I would like to discuss my legal options.

Re: Record Sealing or Expungement

To have a criminal record expunged is a very difficult if not impossible process. That being said there may be the possibility you were granted youthful offender status at the time of your plea. Also it will be possible to move the court to grant you a certificate of relief from civil disabilities. To discuss this further you may call my office @718-834-0087.
