Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

can i get in trouble for being seen stealing 2$ worth of crackers from dollartree while on an acd for shoplifting?

i went into dollartree, walked around, put a pack of crackers under my shirt, and walked out. they were $2.00 or something. after i left the store the person at the register, prob manager, followed outside, said can you please show me whats under your shirt, show me whats under your shirt or i'm calling the cops. so, i decided to just keep going cuz it's 2$. so i went to my car and some random shopper lady followed me who prob got my license plate number. soo i go home and eat my crackers and police knock on my door. i didn't open the door because i know i don't have to so they left. so my question is, can i be arrested because of this? will they watch my car til i get in it? can a warrent be issued cuz of this? can dollartree press charges? can police get a warrent to search my car or house tonight? can police get a warrent to come into my house and arrest me for 2$? i need to go to work tomorrow and make money so i don't need to steal crackers anymore. north tonawanda, ny, if it makes any difference. ps, yes this is true and bet you are laughing at me bein like dude is this chick serious

A theft is a theft.

You can certainly be charged with this theft.

You can be arrested for this petty larceny, but you can just turn yourself in.

Do you have a problem with stealing?
