Is it legal for me to place a song that I have sang to a karaoke and recorded at professional studio to make a demo tape onto youtube, myspace, or the like if there is no money involved.

You presumably don't have permission to use the song but you will probably not get sued over it. It does help that you're not trying to make money off of it, but you are getting attention for future profit of some sort and the advertisers on your page will make money if you get traffic. All of this is in the Internet grey area of the law versus actual practice.

Yes, unless you own the copyright. It's no different than you taping a clip from South Park and uploading that. You are infringing and so will YouTube. What's more, YouTube will have a cross-clai against you. This is exactly about which the entertainment conglomerates are now bring lawsuits.
