Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Need proof of Identity

My husband was denied (temporarily) employment with the City of NY because his GC picture does not look like him. (No wonder, it is from 1973). He was told to get a letter from immigration stating that the GC is valid and belongs to him. NYC Employment office said he should be able to get on ASAP. He filed for a replacement GC and made an appointment with USCIS to get this letter. He was given a form to fill out. However, it is not immediate. Could take 1-2 months. Is there a way to expedite this? Time is running out on the employment offer. Please help! Thanks

Re: Need proof of Identity

Unfortunately there is no way to expedite such applications. Since you have already filed it I dont think you can do anything, but had you not filed it already you and the prospective employer could have made a case based on hardship.

Good luck!
