Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

my wife lied about a kid!!!!!!!

Hi guys, here is my story: in 2004 i was in the USA as a J1 student. during the course of my stay i became friends and later romantically involved with this beautiful lady. later in the summer we decided to get married(as a matter of fact it was her idea) and we started living together in New York. everything was great for about 6-7 months when all of a sudden she started disappearing for a week sometimes more and when she was coming back we had really big fights because i thought there was another man involved which she refused. after she did that 3 or 4 times i told her i insist to know what was going on and she admitted that she have a kid which lives in Florida with her parents....i was more then shocked!!!!i was furious and mad and moved out for a few days. she called me staying that I'm stuck with her and if i don't come back she''ll call the immigration people on me and they will deport me. the next 2 years she basically kept e hostage i was living with her , working 2 jobs paying all her bills and she would stay most of the time in Florida . i was always worried she will play some trick on me with the immigration. now i had enough! My question is can i divorce her and keep my Green card status somehow???please help!

Re: my wife lied about a kid!!!!!!!

Your keeping your green card status can only be decided by the immigration services after you have presented your facts.

The fact that you have been financially supporting your wife and her child can keep you in good standing, as long as you have proof that you have been so doing.
