Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York

Not sure; Insurance or Contract Law

Problem with life insurance policy. Wrote the company several times. Asked them to please stop taking electronic payments. Letters ignored for about two years. Filed complaint with NYS Ins. complaint dept. Are assisting but is getting extremely aggrivated. At the point I think I need to consult attorney. Do I seek an Insurance Law attorney or a Contract Law attorney? The monies I paid them amount to about $2,800 - would it be worthwhile to consider consulting an attorney. It's a bit complicated but I have documents supporting my complaint. Thanks.

It can be either insurance or contract issues or neither. You could consult with an attorney, but keep in mind that the attorney will cost more than the $2,800 you dispute. Are they still deducting money from your bank account?

You should advise your bank to disallow any further electronic withdrawals if they are improper.

I don't quite understand the rest of your question because of the limited facts. What is the issue? Are they taking payments for a cancelled policy?

You need to put everything in writing to the company as well.
