Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Trademark Law

I want to trademark a type of jewelry that I design -

specifically, my Marriage Charm Bracelet and

Earrings. Can these be trademarked? Do I have

to trademark each item individually, or can I

trademark: Marriage Charm Jewelry?

Thanks

Re: Trademark Law

Are you looking to trademark the words "Marriage Charm Jewelry", "Marriage Charm Bracelet," and/or "Marriage Charm Earrings" or the designs of the jewelery. You may have some troube if the USPTO decides that these marks are 'merely descriptive' and cannot be trademarked. They sound pretty descriptive to me, but it's up to the trademark examiners in Washington. If the names can be trademarked you'll want to do each separately. If you're asking about the designs it might be more appropriate to seek copyright protection for them.
