Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

There is a coworker (#1) that has slandered me at work. He has basically stated that I have a bad attitude toward Matilda who is a transgender who has just made it known that she has changed her name to Matilda and will be getting a sex change operation. There was an email sent from coworker #2 to his manager stating that coworker #1 said the following "There is a bad attitude toward Matilda on 2nd shift from (my name) on down." So he has slandered me by name and also the rest of the people on my shift. His manager then forwarded this email to the rest of his people stating that they are to watch for this. I find this very serious because you can be fired for intolerance of any minority group. Now I feel I am being watch for something that I never did in the first place. What should I do at this point.

Tread carefully at work; discrimination issues can get really nasty.

Hire an employment attorney who is local to you and put them on retainer so you have them in your back pocket if/when something else happens.
