Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I've been working at the same university since 1994, and teaching as an adjunct since 1999. When I teach it's considered "multiple position" because I am employed full time as the chief lab supervisor for my dept. I've taught over the summer every summer, except one year, since 2000, and after being assigned a class for this summer it was taken away because it fell "within my normal working hours" (my full time position is not 9-5). In addition, after teaching 6 contact hours of classes since 2000, I was suddenly told that I can only do 3 hours. Since a precedent had been set for many years with the amount of hours i've taught, is it legal for the college to suddenly take these hours away (I have excellent evaluations for myteaching experience)?
