Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

barring a visitor to my coop

My sister's friend (boyfriend?)

visits her coop which is in the same building as my coop. I've always disliked him and don't talk to him because my instincts tell me something's wrong. My sister's neighbor bumped into me on the train the other day and mentioned that he thought the guy had a strange friend coming to see him that had a sign posted on his bike ''for sale $30''. Her neighbor said it was a real good bike and the fact that he was selling it so cheaply made hin think that he needed cash fast-like there was some drug dealing going on. My gut says this is true. My sister has my keys in her apt and her friend knows they are in her house somewhere. My sister works and he's home alone a lot. I don't want him in there with my keys and she doesn't have time to look for them to give back to me. I want to force him out of there without changing my locks. Why should I pay to change locks? He should pay. He interferes with my emotional enjoyment in my home and I have to avoid him. How can I have him removed or threaten him with the police perhaps?

Re: barring a visitor to my coop

It sounds as if you have ABSOLUTELY no legal right in this matter to get what you are requesting, and only conjecture and assumption at this time. If you have such a cause ask your sister for her keys back, im assuming this would only take a few minutes of time.

There is no reason which you have stated from denying this idividal from SOMEONE ELSE'S apartment, which you have absilutely no right to do. Furthermore, in such buildings there are common areas which all tenants share, and which all tenants guests have a right to pass through - such as hallways.

Perhaps you should find a diffrent way of dealing with the problem such as speaking to your sister about the situation. As you described it you have ABSOLUTELY NO legal recourse here.
