Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Girlfriend lives with me

My ex girlfriend lives with me still. We broke up over a month ago and she won't leave. She is not on the lease and has never paid any rent towards the apt. She is starting to get abusive and is nasty. How do I get rid of her. The police told me I can't just throw her out. During our relationship also we got two dogs. One was a gift to her and the other i purchased. She is threatening to take both. What do I do. She doesn't take care of them and I want to keep them both. Please help.

Re: Girlfriend lives with me

It seems that if she continues to refuse leaving your only recourse would probably be to begin summary proceedings in housing court for her eviction. This area of law is our specialty, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
