Go to the L&T Clerk at the Civil Courthouse - the pro-se part. They have the forms.

Re: order to show cause

If you're having problems drafting an order yourself, I would be happy to draft an order to show cause for you on a work-for-hire basis.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.

Re: order to show cause

The order to show cause can be obtained from the court clerk.

You can obtain an Adobe Acrobat sample .pdf file of an Affidavit of Support for Order to Show Cause, and an explanation of the procedures for filing it and for and serving your opposing party with the order to show cause, by:

(1)going to the New York (State) courts website and following the links thereon to go to the pages for the New York City Civil Court; --> (2) then clicking on "Civil Court" which will bring you to a menu options page with list of links on the left edge margin. --> (3) Click on "Legal & Procedural Information"

which will bring up a list of links including "During the Case/Before the Trial" which is the link which you will select to click on. --> (4) Clicking on the "During the case/Before the Trial" link brings up a list of links including "Order To Show Cause" which is the link which you will select to click on.

Moreover, the Legal Aid Society's community website, the "self-help", "do it yourself" section of their website has some useful expalanations and suggestions on how to fill out an Order to Show Cause in an eviction case, to challenge and fight the reviction along with a sample order to show cause. To access this page (1) do a GOOGLE "advanced search" with the "exact phrase" option on the phrase "legal aid society community website" and, (2) upon accessing this page, click on the link "Order To Show Cause".
