Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Jury selection

If on a court calendar I see jury selection set for a particular day does that mean the trial will start that day. How lenghty can it be to select jurors for a personal injury trial. What is the average time a trial lasts and is it normally open to the public in NY? Thank you

Re: Jury selection

It depends on which court you are talking about (i.e., federal, state, county, district, city, town ?????). The answer will vary greatly from county to county in state court. And it will vary depending on the trial judge, the judge that supervises jury selection, and other matters on the trial judge's calendar for the same day.
