Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

personal injury

had a person come to my home and my dog was chained up. he approached the dog after my husband told him not to and he was bit. as a result our dog had to be put down. now he's sueing our home owners. not sure what hes going to get but was afraid he would sue us personally. can i counter sue for the loss of our dog which was chained and on our property?

You can but it would be pointless -- it won't bring back your dog. Let your homeowner's insurance company handle the claim. They must attempt to settle the claim with the injured person within the limits of your coverage. If you are sued, your insurance company will provide defense counsel for you.
