Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

I've been sent a letter from NCO Financial Systems INC about a debt owed to Time Warner Cable. However the last time I was a subscriber was in 2007. Wouldn't this be past the North Carolina statute of limitations of three years?

Quite possibly. You can send them a letter back and ask them for verification of the debt and also indicate that you believe the statute of limitations has run and any further collection efforts may result in a claim for unfair debt collection. If they do bring a lawsuit at some point, please seek an attorney to make sure you answer the complaint and raise any defenses you have such as the statute of limitations as well as bring any counterclaims.
