Legal Question in Personal Injury in North Carolina
Accident
Can I get another attorney for my daughter's case if I am not satisfied with the one I have ?

The short answer is "yes," you can. However, if suit
has already been brought, you will probably need to
have the approval of the Judge, who will likely want
to make sure there is another lawyer in the picture.
The Court must look first to the best interests of
the child, despite the parent's wishes (sometimes).
You did not describe why you are unhappy with your
present lawyer. Before taking the drastic step of
discharging him/her, I suggest you make an appointment
to sit down and discuss the case and why you are
unhappy. Sometimes this will clear things up and make
them go more smoothly. Also, remember that if you fire
this lawyer, you may owe some attorney fees for the
work he/she has done so far. If the case is a contingency
fee case, the new lawyer may be willing to split any fee.
If this is a personal injury matter, the Court will set
all the fees, anyway, regardless of your contractual
agreement with the attorney(s). Good luck.
