Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Liability of a cosigner on an automobile lease

Last year, I cosigned with my then boyfriend, who I was engaged to, on a five year lease on a car. We have since split, and he now lives 30 miles away and I NEVER, nor care to, drive the vehicle. I would like to get out of my part of the lease so I may purchase my own car and quit paying for him to soley use the car I originally signed-off on. Thanks for yor help.

Re: Liability of a cosigner on an automobile lease

Unfortunately, you may be stuck unless the former boyfriend can refinance. There is no reason for the bank to let you off as you appear to be solvent and responsible.
