Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

I hired an attorney in a custody matter for a $2,000 retainer. The attorney said that she would let me know when she was approaching the retainer amount. She never communicated that she was expending above the retainer amount. I received a bill today for $3,150. I had never intended to expend above $2,000 and so I was shocked by this bill. I signed an agreement that says that that Her rate is $160/hour and that I have paid a $2,000 retainer. Am I required to pay for services that were not authorized beyond the retainer?

Technically you are but it depends on what your representation agreement says. I would have to see that to fully advise you. How much work as his attorney actually done, or claimed to have done?
