Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Unwed fathers rights

Long story short-my boyfriend has a 14 month old daughter. The mother of the child hid her pregnancy and the only way he found out was through a child support paper in the mail. He pays child support, has her on his insurance plan but his name isnt on the birth certificate yet. We plan to go to court but arent exactly sure how to go about it or if there are other ways to go about it. The mother of the child smokes marijuana, along with her parents.-presumably around the baby and they are high when taking care of her. We want the child to be safe, and to actually see her since the mother never lets the father see the child. If she does, she has to be present and is rude to him the entire time. Isnt there an easier way to go about this without paying hundreds of dollars just for visitation rights? Thank you.

Re: Unwed fathers rights

You need to go to court and establish parental rights for the father and get a visitation schedule in place. I would suggest meeting with an attorney or two. Feel free to contact our office if you live near columbus. 614.223.1730
