Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

My father past away in october 2010. I live out of state and my brothers and sisters had no way to contact me. How would I find out if he left me money in his will? I briefly spoke with my dads wife on phone a month ago, that how I found out my dad had passed away. I can not reach her by phone and was wanting to find out if my dad had left me anything.

Probate Court files are public record so you can go online to the Probate Court's website in the county where your father resided and see whether an estate has been opened. If there is, you can go down there and request the file and see what has happened in the estate so far. What is more difficult to find is whether your father transferred assets on his death by beneficiary designations to heirs outside of probate.
