Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Unwilling to read Will

Here's the situation:

My aunt passed away a few months ago and her husband has stated that he will not read her Will (or let anyone else until after he passes away). Some family members believe there were various heirlooms that my aunt left to them in the Will and I wanted to know how we could get things moving along and grant our aunt's final wishes. I'm planning to call the probate court about this but have no idea if anything has been filed yet.

In a separate issue, my aunt's mother received a call about an insurance policy her name was on, but unfortunately she failed to save the name and number of the person who contacted her. Since my uncle's not volunteering any information is there another source we can use to find out about this and other possible policies?

Any information you have or suggestions would be appreciated, especially regarding the disclosure of the Will.

Thanks.

Re: Unwilling to read Will

You can obtain a court order forcing your uncle to submit the Will to the Probate Court for review by the public. This is inexpensive. As for the life insurance policy, that is a tougher issue since you need to identify possible life insurance companies before you can write inquiry letters.
