Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Legal Separation required before Divorce can be finanlized

I'm contemplating a divorce. I need to know if in the State of PA do I have to endure a legal separation first before filing for a divorce? How long does the process take?

Assuming you meet the residency requirement, there is no waiting period required in order to file for divorce. However, after the divorce action is filed there is a ninty day waiting period to obtain a no fault divorce if both parties consent. There is a two year separation option to obtain a divorce that can be obtained without consent of both parties. You should consult with legal counsel to review your options. If I can be of any assistence please call. For a very minimum fee I can review your situation and provide you with your options. Gerald M. Hershenson 25-579-9390
