Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Whats my liability?

The organization that I work for is being sued by the mother of a child who died on a camping trip that I and 3 other adults were in charge of. Apparently I have been named in the suit but have not been served with papers at this point. His death was ruled an an accident by the coroners office (the 17 year old drowned in a placid lake). The mother had lost her parental rights years ago. Is she in a legitimate position to sue? If so what is my liability? My organization has lawyers and are telling me its not going to be a problem but Im still concerned for my self.

Re: Whats my liability?

Since you and your company have legal representation and presumably Insurance It woul appear you are going to be covered by this situation. Whether the mother is an appropriate party to bring an action on behalf of her deceased child is a legal issue. If her parental rights were in fact terminated then she may not be the appropriate party to bring the action. If you have any real concerns you can certainly review the complaint naming you with an attorney through a consultation which may answer the questions you have.
