Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

Wrongfull termination of Employment

I worked as a customer service repersenitive for a large dept store for 2 1/2 yrs. I handled returns brought back by customers. The other day they told me that I was stealing and wanted me to admit it. I said I was not and that I would like to see proof since this is a very serious accusation. They kept telling me that all I had to do was admit it and sign some sort of paper. I refuse to sign and told them that I would like to seek my attorny for advice on how to handle this. Now they told me that I was not coroporating. I said very nicely that I want to see proof and that I was not going to sign anything till I did. So they fired me. and am not allowed on there property. The police were not involved and I wondered why. If I am being accused of stealing money then that would be enough for criminal charges and I would of been arrested. I believe that I was wrongly accused and terminated. I was even allowed to make a phone call to seek legal counsel. Do I have a case to bring charges on them? Is this going on my record? Also if I wanted to seek other employment will this go against me.

Re: Wrongfull termination of Employment

First, you should apply for unemployment compensation as the discharge was not for good cause. You may also have defamation or unlawful restraint claims against the department store. I advise speaking to an attorney to fully develope your claim. I offer free consultations.
