Do I legally have the right to break a lease if I buy a new home?

If buying a new home was a condition in the lease which permitted you to break it, yes. Otherwise, no. You should try negotiating with your landlord before deciding to do anything. Whatever you decide, put it in writing as an amendment to the lease.
