Legs amputated

A good friend of mine lost both his legs due to a doctors negligence, he went in for a triple bypass, got a blood clot in his stomach, lost his large intestions 10 later, has a bag to wear the rest of his life, 10 days later lost both his legs because the doctor didnt listen to his request of stomach discomfort and take exrays or any other tests, they got another doctor and took him in for exploratory surgurey and found they had to remove 60% of his intestions and because his could not get up and walk his feet turned black starting with his toes and they did nothing for 5 days and had to take his legs. he is affraid to presue this because he is on ssi and is affraid he will lose it if he asks questions.

Re: Legs amputated

From the facts you provide it is not possible to determine the cause of the amputations or whether they were preventable. Please have your friend call us or write us with further facts. We may be able to help.

The loss of bowel was undoubtedly due to clot or emboli thraveling the the matrix of blood vessels that feed the bowel know as the messenter. Whether the loss of legs was preventable depends upon the nature of the obstrution and whether there was needless and improper delay in responding to symptoms of ischemia.
