Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

Dog bite

I have a friend that was injured and traumatized after being bitten on her right hand by a dog. She was hospitalized several days after infection set in. She went home and needed and additional 10 days (40 doses) of I.V. antibiotics. She also has a chipped bone from the bite and has pain upon use of the hand.

(Additional relevant info.)

* Victim is a 59 year old caretaker of dog owners home for 20 years-

* She is the 6th, possibly 7th person dog had bitten -

* Dog owners wealthy enough to ''apparently'' intimidate victims not to sue -

* Dog owners mentioned compensation initialy via answering machine, but now dropped the topic and do not discuss anymore. They (dog owners) know the victim is intimidated by them, and will not bring topic up to them for fear of losing job with them -

* Dog not registered as a ''dangerous dog'' by homeowners -

* Victim has been treated well by employers making her feel as though she would be suing ''family'' -

* OD'd w/ Dilaudid in hospital -

Dog bite victim feels employment would be terminated upon lawsuit, so she is apprehensive to file - would the compensation amount be large enough to offset the loss of her job? -

Could you please estimate the compensation value of a case such as this?

Re: Dog bite

It is hard to tell what the case is worth. However, if she can work elsewhere the combined result will be more than the salary lost by being fired.

Re: Dog bite

You need to consult with an attorney. An estimate can not and should be given without an in-depth interview. There are several issues here and need to addressed properly ( compenstaion, intimidation, etc)
