Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Obtaining copy of Will

When a parent passes away and has a joint will with their spouse if their children are named in that will shouldn't they be given a copy of it? Eventhough everything is left to the other parent and will be distributed upon their death wouldn't the siblings still have a right to obtain a copy of the original will as long as it has not been changed?

Re: Obtaining copy of Will

The short answer is No and No. Wills are often

a very private affair and there is no requirement

that they be published to any beneficiary. There can

be good reasons for this from the testator's point

of view. They may not want to offend anybody or

want to keep their options open to change the will

as circunstances change. Bill McLaughlin
