Name Changes & Wills

If I legally change my name and before my mother can change her will, she passes away, how does that effect my inheritance? Would I have to change my name back to my birth name?

No. No. It is merely a question of identification. Obviously it could cause some confusion. But, as long as you can show that you are one and the same person (copy of order changing your name should be sufficient), there should be no problem.

Probably not. You are who you are. The only problem would be if your mother passes away while you are out of the country, and nobody knows your new name or how to reach you.
