Legal Question in Product Liability in South Carolina

Damaged electronics from a power surge

I recently had a power surge in my home. My 3 TVs, dvd and all of my phones were damaged. The Carolina Power Co. is saying that they are not responsible for any products that were damaged.

The power surge was not storm related. I had the same problem 4 years ago and I received a settlement from the same S.C. power co. Has their policy changed?

Sorry, but I don't know if their policy changed or not. That is not exactly a legal question. I would ask them why they won't pay. You didn't mention what caused the surge. Once you find out you might want to call the SC Dept. of Consumer Affairs, who can give you advise on utility company liability. You also might want to consult with your homeowners insurance company, and a local attorney.
