Legal Question in Business Law in Texas

Current Employer calling and harrassing new employer

I recently gave notice at my current employer only to find out that they are harrassing my future employer by indicating they will not do business with them any longer if they hire me. Is there any course of action that I might have?

If you did not sign non-compete agreement with current employer, then you can go to the new employer, but the former employer can do business with whom they choose.

Sometimes people confuse harassment with freedom of speech. Your old employer can dial any number he wants to on the telephone. As long as he doesn't circulate untrue remarks about your employment, he can say what he wants to, when he wants to, to whomever would listen to him. The easy solution is for whoever is taking these calls to hang up on the idiot. (not necessarily a legal term)

Assuming that you haven't signed a non-compete agreement with your present employer, ask whomever is making those phone calls if they really want a tortious interference with contract lawsuit by trying to have your new employment contract ended.

Obviously your present employer can do business with whomever they please, but they can't try to put themselves between you and your new employer.
