adding interest

can a collection agency charge interest and if so can they get a judgment based solely on that interest if the original debt has been payed in full?

If the contract allowed for interest, the agency can charge that interest. Otherwise they're limited to simple 5% yearly interest, starting 30 days after the date of default.
