Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit Card Debt

I received 2 credit cards after filing for bankruptcy to rebuild my credit. The limits were both set at $300.Due to problems I encountered I was not able to keep up the payments & now with finance charges, etc the balances are over $1000 each.I have recently been contacted by a firm that said if I don't pay they will file a suit against me.I informed them that I want to pay this debt & ask what options I had. They said they would offer a settlement but had to submit 3 lump sum checks by phone.I informed them that I could not do the large amounts they requested. The firm left a message on my cell that seemed to threaten me on taking a course in regards to my vehicle. Can they take my vehicle or put a lien on it or anything like that?I received another phone call from them today & they asked what I was capable of doing & I told them $30 per month. They demanded that I give them my checking information to do the checks electronically.I told them I didn't feel comfortable with that from past experiences & that I would mail or overnight payments to them.He said no and then hung up.I want to clear this debt but it has been sold so many times I don't know who to contact, what can I do?

They may have violated the fair debt collection act. You should speak to an attorney about this.
