Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Someone trying to sue us

We have received a letter from an attorneys office in another county. It says we have 10 days to respond. I am not sure how to respond since we cannot afford the attorney we called. We rented large equipment to do lake clean up for this area when the water was low. We rented the equipment for one month but they pulled the equipment early since it got stuck in the mud. We do not have $10,000 retainer for an attorney nor the $60,000 they are wanting to sue us for. We do not own a home just 2 cars and a small boat. What is the process for them to sue us and what are the odds of us just trying to take care of it ourselves without an attorney? Are there attorneys that charge less? We are in Burnet County and they have filed in Dallas County about 4 hours from here.

There are attorneys who would take your case for a retainer less than $10,000. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss your case.

We have much experience..and would not expect a retainer to review the facts. It sounds like you are being threatened and no suit may be filed.

Call me or my office if you would care to give us more facts
