Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

voluntary gave back leased vehicle - money owed?

I leased a Truck back in Nov 2005. After about 6 months I was not able to make any more lease payments. I got behind because my husband wasn't able to work. (I got behind on EVERYTHING) I voluntary returned the Truck back to the Dealer in Sept 2006. Now the Finance Company wants over $14,000.00 from me. I tried to get a loan but was turned down. I get collecting phonecalls every day. I am not able to pay that amount of money. What can I do? I am afraid, they will sue me

Re: voluntary gave back leased vehicle - money owed?

At this point there's nothing much you can do. You can write to them, certified mail, explaining the situation and requesting that all subsequent communication be in writing.

If they sue you for the deficiency, and take judgment against you, all that will do is impact your credit. You are probably sue-proof.
