Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband wants to pay me spousal maintenance for 4 years, but I've read that the courts only allow a maximum of 3 yrs, unless the spouse receiving maintenance can't work. Can he choose to pay longer if he wants to?

Yes. "Contractual alimony" can last as long as the parties want it to.
