Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband received a message that he may have fathered a child 10 years ago. If the mother produces and pays for a paternity test and the results are at the boy is in fact my husband child, is my husband liable for back child support? The mother never told my husband of this prior and moved out of state.
