Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Demoted after recieving a good emploment review and a national award.

In August 2005 I was promoted to Senior Technician of Multimedia Services, and

I was the supervisor of 5 full-time and part-time technicians. Since that time I

have won a national award for a film I produced for my employer and have

overseen a myriad of successful events. In mid May a meeting was called with

my immediate supervisor and the Head of HR. In this meeting I was given a

good employment review, and told that although I was eligible for a 2% raise I

did not receive it. I was then presented with a new job description that was the

same as my previous job, but I was no longer a supervisor. I responded by

saying I could not accept this new position as it was clearly a demotion, and I

was forced to resign. Do I have a case?

No. You could have been fired for any reason, or no reason whatsoever, since Texas is an employment at will state. You chose to resign, so even if you had an employment contract that guaranteed a job for a set time period, you walked away from it.
