Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Hurt at a huge discount store. How much is it worth?

I was recently hurt at our local Wal-mart superstore. The store knows that they were neglegent and have agreed to pay dr. bills. I sustained injury to my right arm by a falling shelf. The injury was only severe brusing and will take about a month to heal. Although I know that this would be a good lawsuit, that is not what I am interested in. I have hurt for three weeks and want to know how much they should pay for pain and suffering. I am a full-time student and have not missed school but have been put under undue stress because I can't take the notes that I need in lecture. Please Respond

They are not offering to pay pain and suffering. They are offering to pay your medical bills. They will not, in my experience, offer to pay more than those bills.

As a very rough rule of thumb, should you pursue it further and should the time come for payment of a P & S award, 2.5 to 3 times the amount of your total medical expense is a guideline range.
