Million Dollar Rip Off

I was involved in a fatal car accident. The driver died and I survied (passenger). The insurance company of the driver who hit us is anouxious to pay off a Million dollar libility claim. However, they want to pay my friends children 999,000 (me only 1000.00)? I feel my lawyer is not abituious enogh? I should get at least 100.000.000? what can I do. The surviing children are also filing a civil law suit against the driver and company who hits us. My lawyer has done nothing? What can I do. I do not want to settle for $1000.00?

Re: Million Dollar Rip Off

Texas law limits a lawyer's ability to offer advice to one who is represented by counsel unless that person's lawyer consents to the communication. I can, however, offer some general advice. If a person has uninsured motorist coverage on his own insurance policy, then that will allow him to recover more $ when there are limited funds.

My advice to anyone who has an attorney is to first make an appointment with your attorney and make your wishes known. The attorney needs to explain to you what he or she intends to recommend--and why. If you are not satisfied with your attorney and feel he or she is not representing your interests aggressively, ask to be released from your contract and hire another attorney. (Note that it is unethical for any attorney to advise you on the specifics of your case as long as you are under contract with another lawyer. You must first release yourself from your first attorney before you can consult with another.) I would be happy to help you with your case if you should choose to get released from your first attorney.
