Legal Question in Social Security Law in Texas

Do I have to repay long term disability if I receive SS

I have been receiving long-term disability checks from an insurance company from a policy I paid for through work. They have been paying me for about 4 years. I have been applying for Social Security benefits but have been denied until recently. Now the long-term disability insurance company is saying I must pay back all they have sent me. They will take the lump sum awarded for retroactive payments from social security and if that isn't enough, I have to pay the remaining out of my pocket. Is this legal?

You would have to read your insurance policy. Some disability policies pay only an amount above SS. It it legal? If the policy says so legally --yes. Some policies are vague and could be busted. You would probably have to consult an attorney to see if the policy language is legal.
