Separation & Divorce Proceedings in NC

Where/how do you start? My friend's wife just moved out and took their child and he is clueless. She says she wants $500 a month for child support and she contacted a realtor to sell their house. She said she is getting papers. He needs help. What info can I give him? He doesn't think he can afford an attorney.

He needs to see an attorney ASAP.

She can't list the house without his consent if both names are on the title.

Child support is based on the NC Child Support Guidelines. You can run an analysis on our website at www.RiceFamilyLaw.com As the couple makes more, more is expected under the income shares model.

If property is not properly divided and he pays too much in child support, alimony, etc. - it may be he can't afford not to have an attorney.
