Legal Question in DUI Law in Virginia

Reduce DWI sentencing or fines

Other than hiring an attorney, is there anything I can do to help my situation in a DWI-5413-M1. Such as, signing up for ASAP or a driver improvement class before the court date. It is my first offense and I blew a .14 BAC at the station.

DWI-5413-MI? The DWI I understand, but the rest of the notation is a mystery.

Assuming that this DUI charging event occurred in the Commonwealth of Virginia (and not in MI), for a driver charged with any serious traffic offense, taking a driver improvement course prior to the defendant's court date can never hurt.

You can, however, forget about early enrollment in VASAP as that cannot happen until after you've been to court.

Fortunately, for you, it's your first offense and you blew a BAC below .15;

otherwise, with one point higher, you'd be looking at a mandatory five(5) days in the slammer.
